About me

I’m Charles Flanagan, candidate for Bisbee mayor. Bisbee is a very special place, full of history, culture and wonderful, welcoming, diverse people.  I care deeply about protecting and advancing everything that makes Bisbee great, and am committed to serving you and the priorities of the entirety of our shared community.​ My wife and I moved to Cochise County from Europe in 1985, living for over two decades in Double Adobe (where we lived with our 12 adopted rescue dogs), with Bisbee at the center of our social life, and a significant part of my professional life.

 

As former professional ballet dancers, Bisbee’s artistic soul resonated with us right away, as did the European vibe this wonderful place exudes. Increasing leadership responsibilities took us to Phoenix temporarily, but after I retired from my 38-year career in public service, we moved back to Bisbee over two and a half years ago, and I began serving in additional local non-profit organization roles, including by joining the Copper Queen Hospital board.​

 

In my nearly 4 decades of experience successfully leading state and federal government agencies and volunteering through non-profit organizations, I've always prioritized working collaboratively, inclusively, and transparently in everything I do, whether I’m negotiating a contract, implementing evidence-based programs or solving complex problems: always with the goal of improving the lives of others. My education at the Master's and professional level (Certified Public Manager and graduate of the Institute for Public Executives, ASU), support my practical experience.

 

If I am elected as your mayor, I will listen and I will work with ALL constituencies to create a future that reflects the values of everyone who calls this special place home.I hope to earn your vote, so that we can work together for a beautiful and prosperous future for the Bisbee we love!
